charcoal drawings

Did these random charcoal drawings for fun.  I'm getting more and more adept with charcoal, I used to hate it because it was so messy but I had no idea I could make really nice lines with them

My Friday drawing class has certainly helped me get used to using random stuff, I'd never have thought if using tissue or twigs before this course but I keep learning stuff now. I'm gonna try and do more actual big portraits when I have some free time. Easter break is soon so that might be useful.

Backgrounds for my narrative film

Hi

I've done some backgrounds for a narrative film im currently working on, well about what a narrative film is, ill explain in a different post.  Basically i'm doing a new animation in whatever style(digital, hand drawn etc)  i like and the theme of it is 'worst day ever' doesn't get easier than that to be honest.

OK so here they are

These were all done in sketchbook pro, i wanted to do them in photoshop but it ran too slowly(my laptop's fault) so i saved time and went straight to sketchbook pro, that's not to say that sketchbook pro isn't good, it just doesn't have as much tools as Photoshop but it is a very good software, i still prefer it for its simplicity compared to Photoshop.

I will be posting different stages of the narrative and explain it in a later post, you'll definetely be seeing these backgrounds in there, there's not so much in them as you can see they are pretty basic but still good.

After effects toying

Played around with after effects today and did this, yeh there's not much happening but i like the background blending so i thought id share it

posters for Drawing class

This are posters for some of the animations i did last semester. the red riding hood isn't complete but i thought i'd show it as it is

walk cycle(not with Ged)

Unfortunately i couldnt find the original walk cycle i did with Ged but i had done this around the first time Ged first came and explained walk cycles to us.



this was done in flash which i'm kind of getting fed up with.

11second march wip

My idea for the march piece so far, i added more detail into this one compared to my previous entry, problem now is while i have more detail, my lip sync was a bit off.  i wanted to do more movements with the characters but time was limited so i again went for using stickmen as my characters.  very fast way of doing stuff even if its not pretty.

Played around a bit with after effects on this one as well which i just found out  is very useful.

11 second competition - February

This didn't go so well for me, id have liked to have more detail in the background as well as the characters themselves but i just couldn't cope with flash.  but i did manage to handle the lip sync quite well(bearing in mind i had no previous experience with lip sync)

Folds - Drawing class

So this is what happened in my last friday drawing class.  we crumpled up items and had to look for the folds on them to shade in.  the idea of this was to try and give the rumpled item a form or figure and it was all being storyboarded so we were making a cartoon.  

We paired up and used our jackets for the folds, i numbered the first three but forgot the rest init x_x . my story begins with the first jacket which then meets the second jacket and they start to know each other.

The story ends with the first jacket being pulled out of the screen. in a movie sense, the 1st jacket is the Juliet and the romeo is the second jacket and the ending signifies that something is preventing their relationship as one is being pulled away.  pretty much a tragedy-drama movie :)(
